SheetSnap

From MusicXML to piano practice and a SheetSnap video

Use one score for two separate jobs: first check its notation and playback in Practice, then prepare a video of that score playback. A SheetSnap visualization is not a recording of your acoustic piano performance. Check the available access, export limits and your saved video before deciding to publish it.

Prepared by SheetSnap. Editorially updated ; not reviewed by a music teacher. English guide; practice suggestions are not a substitute for individual teaching.

1. Prepare a short score you can check

Start with a short piano score you created or have permission to use. If you use MuseScore, its File > Export command offers MusicXML; choose an uncompressed .musicxml or .xml export for SheetSnap. A file that only contains an image of the page is not this workflow. For file-format comparisons, use the separate import guide rather than assuming every score purchase includes editable notation.

2. Import through Choose a file, not the library backup importer

Open the SheetSnap import screen and select Choose a file for your uncompressed score. MusicXML import requires eligible Pro access; the founding beta is limited by its displayed capacity and expiry. If access is unavailable, use a bundled free starter to try the practice steps instead. The Library's .sheetsnap importer restores a SheetSnap file; it is not the MusicXML upload control. Hosted photo and AI scanning are not needed here.

3. Verify the imported music before practicing it

Compare the opening measures, clefs, rests and accidentals with the source score. Check any repeat or ending that changes the playing order by listening through that boundary. Open Practice and use a short measure range and a slower speed to investigate a mismatch. Import success is not a guarantee that every notation feature or performance direction is reproduced exactly.

4. Separate practice settings from the exported performance

Export video uses the full piece playback schedule and base BPM, not your practice-measure range, slower speed preset or training multiplier. To change the export tempo, enter Playback BPM in Speed rather than only selecting a 0.50x preset. Selecting two measures does not make a two-measure export, and practice voice mutes are not carried over by the exporter. Use a genuinely short source score for a first render; inspect the result rather than assuming practice settings became video settings.

5. Choose a look and a conservative video format

In Practice, open More and All practice settings, then use Style Studio to preview a look. Select Apply style and return to the piece. Under Recording, choose Video format, Export keyboard range and Video composition. Try 1080p landscape and Sculpted keyboard first, then use Export video. Camera footage strip reserves space for footage; it does not film you or automatically combine a camera recording. Higher-resolution or vertical output is an option to test, not a promise for every device.

6. Inspect the saved file before sharing

Open the downloaded file in a video player and check the opening, a repeat boundary, the final note, sound and picture alignment. The app reports export problems and access or usage limits; an available button is not proof that a particular browser or codec will complete the render. Creator access targets watermark-free 60 fps, while the baseline targets 30 fps with a SheetSnap mark. Treat these as targets, not independently verified output on every phone.

Keep a source copy and decide what you may publish

Keep original MusicXML and finished videos separately. Cloud Library backs up the signed-in working library and saved takes within capacity; it does not upload downloaded creator videos. Permission to practice a score does not automatically settle permission to publish a video of it. Use your own material or check the applicable rights before uploading; neither an import nor a Creator entitlement grants those rights.

Try practice with a free starter first

The free starter path needs no purchase. Your own imports require eligible Pro access; the founding beta is subject to its displayed capacity and timeframe.
