Using a MIDI piano keyboard in a web browser

A web MIDI keyboard connection needs a browser with Web MIDI support, a compatible connected device, HTTPS and your permission. Support differs from ordinary score playback. Try a free starter piece on your actual device before relying on MIDI grading or video export.

Check the connection before a lesson

Connect your MIDI keyboard, open SheetSnap over HTTPS and use the MIDI input controls to request permission. Chrome or Edge on desktop is a practical starting point, but a cable, adapter, driver, operating system or browser policy can still prevent detection. Importing a MIDI file is different from connecting a live MIDI device.

When Web MIDI is unavailable

Use the on-screen keyboard, listen to playback and follow the score. A mobile browser or Safari may not expose the Web MIDI API; a language or country setting cannot add that hardware capability. Check the current browser compatibility reference below. Microphone input is experimental and is not a reliable replacement for polyphonic MIDI grading.

Export and graphics are device-dependent

High-resolution video export and complex effects need more memory and graphics capacity than score reading. Try a short export, open the saved file and check picture, sound and timing before making a longer video. We do not promise 4K/60fps export on every browser or phone.

Languages and international access

The language selector offers English, Spanish, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, simplified and traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Indonesian, Vietnamese and Thai. Localized learning pages include note names, sharps and flats, and two starter-piece guides. Legal pages, the FAQ, comparisons, the device compatibility guide and some advanced controls are currently English. Translation does not guarantee Web MIDI support or network availability in every country.
